Summer in Melbourne means lots of things. Hot northerly winds, beautiful cool changes, day trips to the beach… It also means that the Sustainable Living Festival (SLF) is back in town!
We are very happy to be involved with the Festival for the fourth year in a row, bringing you some green-thinking classes. Just look out for the little green leaf in the top corner of class images. You can also check out our SLF class category or the sustainability class tag.
this year, all of our SLF classes are on Wednesday evenings in the CBD.
Classes for SLF
Sewing Basics: Repairs and Alterations
February 8th, 8:00-9:15pm
We all have clothes that don’t get worn for or reason or another. Rather than adding to the huge pile of textiles that end up in landfill each year, pick up a needle and thread. With a few basic skills, you can have those clothes out of the drawer and back in fashion.
Green Cleaning – Simple. Safe. Sustainable.
February 15th, 6:15-7:30pm
Green cleaning is a vastly more sustainable and safe approach to tackle that mother of household chores… cleaning. Using simple materials, and guaranteed NO extra elbow grease we will have you knocking over the housework with time and cash to spare.
Urban Agriculture: Small Space Growing and Foraging
February 15th, 8:00-9:15pm
Want to: cut the cost of your grocery bill, become more self-sufficient, have more input / control of what you eat, make an edible weed pie, host a foraging expedition, avoid pesticides, contribute to sustainability, learn about worms? Of course you do!
Meal Planning 101: Don’t Waste Food
February 22nd, 6:15-7:30pm
Too busy to cook? Wandering around the supermarket feeling uninspired? Overwhelmed by the idea of cooking? Throwing out uneaten food? This is the case for so many people but we’re going to change that.
Give new life to old fabrics! Instead of sending it all to landfill, turn your textiles into macramé masterpieces. It’s easy, affordable, you don’t need any tools and can spice up any room with a wall art or planter. We’ll learn to make yarn from old t-shirts ready for a revival
