Laneway Learning

Here are some answers to the most common questions we get! If the answer to your question isn’t here, you can also take a look at our Terms and Conditions and ‘Insider Tips‘.

If you would like to get in contact with us, send an email to

  • I want to register for a class but can’t pay now, what should I do?

If you would like to attend a class but can’t pay straight away don’t worry. Go ahead and register and then send an email to to let us know. We will reserve your place and work out payment details that suit your situation.

Unfortunately, if you do not contact us we cannot guarantee that your place will be secure. Additionally, as classes often sell out very quickly please email us as soon as possible to make sure that you don’t miss out.

  • I can no longer attend a class, can I get a refund?

If you need to cancel your place at a class and you give us at least 3 working days notice (by email) then we are happy to transfer your payment to a different class of your choosing or issue a refund. If you booked for more than one person please let us know the name(s) of the person(s) who can no longer attend.

Unfortunately, we cannot give refunds or credits for cancellations that are received with less than 72 hours (work days) notice, but please do still let us know if you are not coming. You are also welcome to give your ticket to a friend or sell it on – just let us know who to expect.

Please note that multi-part classes are sold and refunded as one item. Cancellations must be received at least 3 work days before the first class to receive a refund or credit.

  • What do I do if I have accidentally paid twice?

Don't panic! Just email us at as soon as you notice and we can refund one of the spaces. There is no need to lodge a dispute through PayPal or your bank (it will take longer!).

Please get in touch at least 48 hours before the class.

  • Do you do gift cards?

Yes we do. You can purchase a gift voucher through our website.

  • How do I redeem a gift voucher?

To redeem a gift voucher, register for the class you are interested in and then send an email to telling us your name, the class you have registered for and the voucher ID. We’ll do the rest.

  • I want to attend a class that has sold out, what can I do?

If a class you want to attend has sold out click the ‘join the waiting list’ button and then enter your details.

When we receive a cancellation for a class we will email the first few people on the waiting list to let them know that a space is available. If you are still interested, all you need to do is hop onto the website and register and pay like normal to secure your spot.

If it’s last minute we will put a shout out on Twitter and Facebook too.

Please note that we are not able to read every entry in the ‘anything else’ box so if you have something important please consider sending us an email.

  • You ran a class that I was interested in but couldn’t attend, will you rerun it?

We keep a tally of the number of requests we receive for classes to be run again and will try to repeat any one that is particularly popular. So, get your vote in and keep an eye on the website! We also use the waiting list as a way to monitor popularity so it’s a good idea to sign up if you’re keen.

  • Has your price increased recently?

You might have noticed our base price has increased to $16 per class, our first increase in four years! We are aiming to make Laneway Learning more sustainable and able to continue for many years to come by creating part-time jobs as well as hiring a space to play and learn. However, at Laneway Learning we aim to keep education affordable for everyone so if this $2 increase is an issue, but you would really like to come to a class, please email us at and we'll see what we can do.

  • Online class refund information

For online classes we will only refund if there was a technical difficulty on our side. Please understand we won't be able to refund for issues with your connectivity, forgetting to attend, spam filters or others delaying or not allowing our emails and other circumstances out of our control. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Do I need a ticket?

When you attend a Laneway Learning class we’ll have your name on the door so there’s no need to have a ticket or print off your confirmation email. Saving trees and time!
  • What time should I arrive for a class?

Our classes start at the advertised time so please aim to arrive a few minutes beforehand so you can be ready to begin.

However, some of our venues open especially for us in the evening so if you turn up too early you may find yourself standing out in the laneway! A good guide is to arrive no more than 15 minutes before the start of your class.
  • I have seen photos from previous classes, if I attend Laneway Learning can I avoid being in these?

Of course! We like to take photographs of our classes and do use some of the shots to promote Laneway Learning, but we would never use an image if it included someone who was camera shy. So, although we never link any names to the photos, please let us know when you arrive if you would rather not appear in these at all.
  • Are you wheelchair accessible?

Our accessibility varies between venues and is detailed on our Where Are We? and Venue Information pages. If you have any concerns or require further information send us an email at and we can chat about it.
  • Can I bring a child or baby?

Laneway Learning classes are aimed at adults and are a great way to unwind and have a bit of time off!

However, we are happy to welcome younger learners that would like to participate in the class if they are supervised by an accompanying adult.

If you would like to bring someone under the age of 18, please ensure that the class and venue are suitable, and do not involve any activities limited by law (for example, alcohol). Be aware that we do not have any facilities for children or babies at any of our venues.

If you have any questions or concerns just drop us a line and we will be happy to help.

  • Do you run private classes?

We are pleased to offer a selection of private packages. Please get in touch with us by emailing and let us know what you are looking for.

  • Do you have a lost property box?

Yes we do, usually at our venues depending on storage space.

If you left something behind after a class and it isn't at the venue, drop us an email at with a description of the item and which class you were at when you lost it. We'll let you know if we found it and where you can pick it up from.

We look after unclaimed property for one month.
