What’s it all about?

Piñatas are vibrant and colourful decorations that you get to hit, smash and take all your frustrations out on! The best part – once it’s broken open, you get rewarded with some sugary goodness. Sounds great, right?

Most commonly identified as a Mexican traditional party activity, piñatas are a way to make any event a big hit. It’s also super fun to make piñatas, and that’s what we’re going to do!

What will we cover?

In this workshop we will cover everything from the history of piñatas, to making your own glue, and all you need to know about assembling them. And of course, we will get hands-on and make a piñata!

We will also go over different decorating techniques and the best things to fill your mini piñata with, depending on the event.

Be prepared to get messy! It’s all part of the fun.

Who will be teaching?

Karen – sometimes known as the Piñata Lady – is part of a dynamic trio in a boutique accounting firm. In her spare time a chaos of colour, glue and paper reign supreme as she hand crafts impressive piñatas. To see her work visit Piñatas by Karen Rivera on Facebook or Instagram. Amongst the many things she enjoys doing; trying new activities and going on an adventure are top of the list. Tubing down a river one day, bachata dancing another.

Inspired by the piñatas made in her home country of El Salvador, Karen has been creating piñatas for the last five years. Mixing traditional with modern techniques, she makes personalised and unique one-off piñatas for all occasions.
