What’s it all about?

Do you ever wonder about life meaning, purpose, human experience?  Psychology and spirituality both provide frames of reference for understanding and exploring these issues. Historically, psychology and spirituality have had a complicated relationship however, these two can be seen as complementary systems of understanding.

This class provides an overview of the history of psychology and spirituality and how both conceptualise life’s meaning and purpose.  We will discover our own personal ways of exploring the questions of meaning and purpose through these two perspectives.

What will we cover?

In this class we will:

  • provide a definition of psychology and spirituality and explore the relationship between the two – identifying commonalities and differences;
  • look at ways that psychology and spirituality help explore life’s meaning and purpose
  • discover our own ways to explore the questions of meaning and purpose.

An opportunity for discussion and practice of techniques from both disciplines (eg: mindfulness) will be provided.
