What’s it all about?

If not downlights… then what?

Many people are lost when it comes to lighting their home with anything other than downlights. There are so many choices, but how do you know which ones are suitable, and which will leave you searching for a torch?

Even the best designed room can look distinctly average without the proper lighting; from understanding new technologies to saving yourself from being sold ineffective lighting solutions you might be surprised what a good light can do.

What will we cover?

We will take you through some of the basic principles of light, to help you understand your options and then lead a group design project – starting with an open plan living room and a scope for the room you will learn the process for designing with light.

We will learn how we perceive light using rainbow glasses and find out how to negotiate the complex world of modern lighting, including understanding what all those LED products can do and discovering how to choose the right lights for your home. Whether you own your home, rent or are building a new home, learning how light works for you will make all the difference to how much you enjoy the spaces you live in.

By the end of the class, you’ll know enough to tackle your own home lighting design with flair.

Who will be teaching?

Adele Locke is a professional lighting designer who runs Mint Lighting Design, an independent home lighting design practise. With over 10 years’ experience in lighting and lighting education, Adele will share all that she has learned (that fits into 75 minutes!) and answer any questions you have about lighting for your home.
