What’s it all about?

Woodblock printing has been used for many cultures over the years, it is a simple way to make replicable prints. This workshop will teach you all you need to know to make your first woodblock print, from carving the wood board, to hand printing a limited editions of your print.

What will we cover?

If you have an idea of an image you would like to work on, feel free to bring photos or drawing with you. During the step by step process you will be guided to make your own custom woodblock to keep and then create prints in class to impress your friends.

Emilie WalshWho will be teaching?

Emilie is a Melbourne based artist and maker, currently finishing her PhD at the Victorian College of the Arts. She moved from France and 2014 and has been developing her art practice since, working with a range of media, from video to printmaking and 3D printing.
Emilie is also a comic book artists. Her illustration has been published by the Lifted Brow, and she self-published her first graphic novel in 2018 with Tree Paper Comics in Melbourne.
