What’s it all about?

Will your home stand the test of time? What things should you consider to make sure your home is sustainable, energy efficient, and a place that you love to be?

In this interactive session learn key insights into how to ‘future proof’ your home, especially at floor plan stage. These ideas will help to ensure it meets your needs now, and as your requirements change over time.

What will we cover?

In the class we will run through several topics that affect the ‘future proofing’ of your home. Areas we will cover are:

  • Floor plans and how to create a flexible floor plan with adequate zoning.
  • Implementing sustainable principles in your design and interiors.
  • Window placement, type and how they affect energy efficiency.
  • Space planning and what to consider for now and later on.
  • Window treatments and getting it right first time.
  • What materials matter most for interiors.
  • Lighting and its impact – creating mood, ambient & task lighting.
  • What to consider when selecting the right lights.

We will also look at floor plans as a group, and critique them based on what we learn in the class. You’re also encouraged to bring your own floor plans for this exercise if you have some.
