What’s it all about?

Planning a funeral service is not fun for anyone, but neither is the thought of being played out to the last thing you listened to on Spotify. Have fun picking your favourite tunes and give the gift of one less decision to make for your loved ones, when it comes time for your life to be celebrated.

What will we cover?

In this workshop we will cover how to choose your unique and personalised funeral songs, how you choose for loved ones and turn a funeral in a true celebration of someones life through their music program.

Please bring a journal/ipad to write your thoughts and ideas in.

Phoebe DeklerkWho will be teaching?

Phoebe is a Melbourne based Funeral Singer. Aspiring to be an Opera singer from the age of 12, Phoebe performs as much as she can. Singing is Phoebe’s way of honouring people’s love, their memories and dreams. Phoebe often comes across songs that she sings or listens to and says “That’d be a lovely Funeral Song”. The most recent discovery was “Candle on the Water”. They then go on “The list”.

Last year, Phoebe co-wrote and performed her first Cabaret called ‘Phoebe’s Fond Farewells: Everything you wanted to know about Funeral Songs but were afraid to ask!’ The cabaret was performed to invite people to think about how we see Funeral Music as a society, the lack of talk about death and how discussion is healthy. You can find her on Facebook.
