Did you realise that creating a better world can also compatible with your strongest creative skills and desires, and with having huge amounts of fun? There’s an incredible array of artists around the planet who have worked this out, now it’s your turn to get your inspiration on and make change in the world with your own creative adventures.
What will we cover?
If you want to make a difference in the world, exercise your creativity, and have a great time along the way, this is the class for you. This evening will give you some practical tips on how to generate creative ideas for world improvement, and ways to turn these ideas into reality.
We’ll start by exploring a number of art projects which engage with society and the environment in an attempt to positively change the world in some way. After this inspiration session, the real fun will begin as we explore your own ideas for new projects to develop. Participants will learn several creative techniques for developing ideas through drawing, writing, moving and thinking.
The next step is turning ideas into reality, and you will also learn a great technique to make this process easy and fun, so you can leave the class ready for action and feeling positive about the kind of place the world can be with the addition of just a little creativity.
Who will be teaching?
Michele Grimston is a multidisciplinary artist and arts facilitator attracted to the whimsy and tiny beauties that fill this crazy world. She has also worked on many large, creative sustainability projects and has worked for several years in community environment organizations in Canberra. Michele is adamant about having fun with her work – and making sure others do too. She has recently returned to Melbourne from Canada, where she completed a five week artist residency at the Banff Centre in Alberta. You can see some of her art online here.
