What’s it all about?

You know the people. The ones who’ve stuck around through thick and thin. You’ve got silly jokes that won’t die. You’d do anything for them, as they would for you. Friendships, they’re part of what makes life worth living. Or maybe you don’t.

All of us have less of these people than we did twenty years ago, and 1 in 4 of us don’t have any close connections at all. We’ve changed as a society. We move further. Work more. We’re more connected through new technologies, but we’re forming weaker links than ever before. So how, in our modern, busy world, do we best invest in friendships?

What will we cover?

We’ve interviewed people from 18-80 about what it takes to build deep, meaningful friendships, and combined that with the best research from around the world.

In this workshop we’ll:

  •  Reflect on what you already know from your experiences of friendship in your life
  • Share a bit of what we’ve learned from our research (and other places to go if you want to learn more)
  • Give a tool to apply what we’ve learned and deepen your personal community

The workshop will be structured so you can do it alone or you can bring a friend if you’d like a chance to reflect together about your experiences.

ryan_robin_kitestring_squareWho will be teaching?

Ryan and Robin are designers who work in belonging.

In a world that invites us to show up as individuals, they’re interested in how people build meaningful connections to nature + place and how they deepen their relationships with friends + community. You can learn more about the work at hinterlandlab.com
