What’s it all about?

Most of us are directly affected by our surroundings but we don’t realise just how much. Ever wondered why you prefer one restaurant to another when they both have great food? Why do you prefer the look of someone else’s home over your own? It’s the design! But what aspects are you noticing? When you can recognise the details you can introduce them into your own environment.

What will we cover?

In this class we will walk through a process to turn an average room into a great one. We will be looking at:

  • Colour (how to be enriching without overpowering)
  • Furniture (simple layouts and sourcing on a budget)
  • Texture and pattern
  • Lighting (like ‘accessorising with jewellery’ the right lighting can make a boring room seem spectacular at night)
  • Use of scale
  • Creating a sense of fun
  • Art
  • Mixing old and new

We will also try to some exercises mixing and matching patterns, furniture, lighting and colour. You will learn the skills to “dress” your space and with the tools to develop your personal environment – be it your home or office (it’s been proven to improve morale!) – you can improve what you already have without renovating.

Who will be teaching?
