What’s it all about?

Traditional gouache paint is a super opaque medium. It’s a wonderful cross between watercolours and acrylic paints and is fun (and forgiving) to work with!

In this class, we will explore the use of this interesting medium and create a beautiful floral image. Pick a fresh flower on your walk or from your garden (or use a reference photo) and together we will explore how to turn your flowers into a delightful painting.

Ideal for beginners who like a floral theme to start their creative journey with.

What will we cover?

  • Introduction and overview of the medium and it’s properties
  • Appropriate papers and brushes
  • Practising brush strokes and their effects
  • Creating your lovely floral painting

What will you need?

  • 140lb/300gsm paper or stretched canvas (black or white)
  • Gouache paints – any brand
  • Brushes – ideally a variety eg: Round size 5, detail brush size 1, filbert brush, fan brush, angled brush
  • Water for washing brushes
  • Paper towels
