What’s it all about?

Discover this stylish Japanese binding technique and create a set of two Oriental bound books as you learn how to make a hemp stitch book and Japanese stab stitch book. We will also learn about paper, the history of Oriental bookmaking, and the different stitching patterns used in Oriental books.

What will we cover?

We will learn some of the different traditional stitches, including stab binding, hemp leaf binding and simple Japanese binding, to create a beautiful set of two books. These hand-sewn, soft and hard cover albums make a gorgeous gift and are ideal for Japanese-style photo albums or just your writing and doodles.

If you have ever had an interest in traditional bookmaking methods, paper craft, graphic design or handmade products and crafts then this is for you!
