What’s it all about?

Am I doing enough for them? – this is a question we often ask ourselves regarding enhancing the quality of life of our senior “fur babies”.  Learn from a veterinary nurse how to make their retirement years more rewarding, comfortable and enjoyable for you to spend together.

What will we cover?

This class will cover a few broad topics such as:

  • When does a pet get “old” and signs of aging
  • Environmental enrichment
  • Nutrition and feeding techniques
  • Home modifications
  • Exercise intolerance and regimes
  • Grooming and handling
  • Common signs of disease to look out for
  • Quality of life scale

This class will be a mix of a lecture with show-and-tell and there will be opportunities for your questions.

Who will be teaching?

Pamela Cardenas

Pamela is an energetic veterinary nurse with 5 years experience working in inner Melbourne clinics. Her passion for geriatric pets and their special needs grew from caring for Delphi (her diabetic 17 year old cat).  Pamela’s love for animals started at a young age in her home country Ecuador where she volunteered at dog shelters.
