Are you interested in 3d printing? Create your first print ready 3D simple print design in 1 hour

This simple introduction to Computer Aided Design will give you the skills to design your first basic 3D print with the easy to use freeware TinkerCAD!

What will we cover?

First we will be leaning about how 3d printing works and how artists, scientists and researchers are using 3d printing in a short presentation.

This will be followed by a short demonstration on how to use the free online tool TinkerCAD for designing a 3d print.

Then you’ll be hands on with the tool and create your own design using with a fun based learning challenge!

We’ll finish with some handy resources for your next steps in using 3d printing.

What will you need?

Sign up to create an account on www.tinkercad.com prior to the class so that they can use the program.
The account is free and only requires an email address.

Who will be teaching?

Eric is an artist whose practice utilizes computational processes driven by journalistic research. He has exhibited most recently in the Australian International Arts Festival at the Gertrude Street Gallery, the Ballarat International Foto Biennale and at the Monash Gallery of Art.

His first encounter with 3D printing and modelling represented a significant breakthrough in his art practice and came from trainings like this one, he is now paying that forward as a teacher. He is currently undertaking Masters of fine art at the Victorian Collage of Arts, University of Melbourne, where he also teaches 3d Printing to researchers.
