What’s it all about?

You’ve watched the show. Now, get the hair.

Game of Thrones is known for its conniving characters, bloody battles — and of course, for the stupendous braided hairstyles. From Cersei’s intricate hairdos to Sansa’s svelte style, the ladies of Westeros (and even some men) know how to rock the braids.

By the end of the braiding class, you’ll look like Daenerys. Wear the braids out, and you might even meet your very own Khal Drogo.

What will we cover?

We’ll start off by looking at some of the more inspirational hairdos from the past seasons of Game of Thrones. Using a model, Braiding 101 instructor Theresa will take you through how to do some of the more iconic looks from the show. We’ll begin with some easier Sansa braids and work our way up to full-on Daenerys hairdos. Because of the time it will take to do each type of braid on everyone, we will concentrate on doing just a few. Each and every attendee will leave the class with some super-fancy hair, fit for a ball in King’s Landing!

Who will be teaching?

Like many young girls, Theresa Winters owned Barbie dolls — on which she taught herself how to French braid. With the resurgence in braided styles, she’s once more become intrigued with all sorts of hairdos, and is thrilled that her degree in Classical Civilization is coming in use: those Ancient Greeks and Romans sure enjoyed a good braid or two.

An American transplant to the Antipodes, Theresa recently co-founded The Plus Ones, a website dedicated to telling people about events. She also freelances for Time Out Melbourne magazine and manages to win quite a few competitions (join the Facebook group WinWinWinters for more).
