What’s it all about?

Macramé, or the art of knotting, is having a swift revival since the 70s. It’s easy and affordable. You don’t need any tools and you can spice up any room with a wall art or planter.

Instead of making planters with rope, we’ll be making t-shirt yarn so you can turn old t-shirts into gorgeous macramé planters. This is a fun class where creativity and sustainable practices collide.

What will we cover?

We’ll be learning:

  • How to make t-shirt yarn out of old t-shirts. You can use this yarn to crochet, knit, macramé and do all sorts of other crafts.
  • Once we have our yarn ready, we’ll learn the basic knots to make a planter including the half knot, 4 strand braid and a square knot.

What will you need?

  • A couple of old t-shirts or fabric (it works best with no embroidery and no ribbed cotton)
  • A pair of scissors
  • Optional: a pot plant you’d like to hang, macrame style.

Who will be teaching?

Maria YebraMaria Yebra has crafted many cute and weird things in her life from fox hoodies to bias tape planters, wax skulls and cat rings. She loves to upcycle and has an extensive collection of loved “junk” she plans to turn into something useful one day.
