What’s it all about?

Have you ever wanted to learn a musical instrument but haven’t been game since your primary school music teacher told you not bother?

Playing the ukulele is an ideal way to learn music – it’s not too tricky to learn a few chords (with which you can play a lot of songs). It’s also a great instrument to sing along to and it’s pretty darn cool – you can’t argue with Elvis.

So come and join the wave of ukulele popularity that’s sweeping the world. Quick, before it goes out of fashion and the banjo takes over!

What will we cover?

– A basic history of the ukulele
– How to tune your ukulele
– How to hold the uke and good posture habits to get into
– How to play a few chords on the ukulele and how to read chord charts
– Different strumming patterns

And you’ll learn to play some songs with your new chords, strums and fellow uke-mates!

Who will be teaching?

Rose Turtle Ertler is a musician, composer and community arts facilitator and has been playing the ukulele for twelve years. She has taught many workshops, often for ukulele clubs around Australia (there’s at least forty of them!) and has performed at the New York Ukulele Festival and in Auckland at the NZ Ukulele Festival.

Rose feels very lucky to be part of the international ukulele community and has recently released a cookbook/CD “What Do Ukulele Players Eat? #2″ featuring recipes and songs from twenty two ukulele players from around the world.
