Discover the fundamentals of great lyric writing.
What will we cover?
There are no rules to lyric writing but the tools are what makes good writing great. We will identify some key tools and the formula to popular songwriting. We will uncover a brief history of songwriting and what it is that gives a song such power over our emotions.
Once we have explored the fundamentals we will practice the skill. You will have the chance to write your own lyrics to an original chord progression, prepared and performed for you, that you may record and take home for practice after class.
Who will be teaching?
Lachlan writes and performs his original songs in various Melbourne venues and provides tuition in vocals, guitar and songwriting.He has an uncanny patience and is driven by the joy of identifying and helping students to overcome specific stumbling blocks. He takes a coaching approached as is inspired by students achieving their unique musical goals.
Lachlan has experience and certification in vocational training and assessment (Certificate IV TAE) and certification in 8th Grade Practice of Music and 6th Grade Musicianship through AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board).
