What’s it all about?

Do you want to find out more about what design is, or how designers think  and solve problems? Or wished that you could use design in everyday life? Perhaps you work or live with designers, but find everything they do mysterious, incomprehensible, or just downright irritating? This is a fun and informal class for non-designers to discover what design thinking is all about. To practically explore the basic principles of design and to learn to think like a designer.

What will we cover?

Many organisations, large and small, have begun to adopt design thinking principles to help their non-design employees to use creative approaches to solve problems and work together more efficiently. This has come to be known as ‘design thinking’.

This beginners’ class will look at what design is and how it is relevant to many aspects of our daily life. During the workshop we will look at design issues, discuss ideas, work together on problems and play with our ideas to try think about the world a little bit differently – like a designer.

Who will be teaching?

Yaron is a professional designer, with twenty years commercial experience in the UK and Australia and recently completed his PhD. He has masters degrees in design from Central St Martins, London; in Public Art from RMIT; and a post-graduate diploma in print and publishing from the London College of Communication. Yaron believes that the process of design should be fun as well as functional.
