After 3 years of hanging out mostly in the centre of Melbourne, we’re sending an expedition up north to spread the learning love in Northcote. If you find it hard to get into the city in the evenings, or happen to live in the Northcote area, you’re going to want to pop in to the Gypsy Hideout, meet our Northcote team, and learn something new.
The venue
Nestled on the southern end of High Street, just near Westgarth station, you’ll find this quirky little café. The warm atmosphere and sun drenched interior makes it a great spot for classes and outside you’ll find an intimate courtyard and garden, perfect for a lazy brunch or boozy afternoon in the sun.
So, whether you’re seeking respite from the hustle and bustle of High Street for a quiet coffee, you want to kick off your afternoon with a cocktail or two, or you want to join us for a class on a Monday night, you’re covered.

The people
Who are our intrepid explorers I hear you ask? The team taking some Laneway love to the northern suburbs is Lee and Sivan.
Sivan has been fascinated with science and health ever since she got her first home lab kit at age three and last year she taught a class with us on Making Sense of Food Labels. Basically, she is a self-confessed science geek.
Lee is more of a hard-core foodie who loves everything to do with food: gardening, cooking, making up recipes, feeding others, and of course – eating. You may well remember her classes on Healthy Desserts Made Easy and Delicious.
Welcome to you both, it’s going to be a lot of fun!
The classes
We’ve got our first four Northcote classes up on the website, which is very exciting! The fun starts on Monday the 9th of February: Twist and Pop – Balloon Artistry with Gladys and Braiding: It’s As Easy As 1, 2, 3 with Theresa.
The following week we’ll be learning The Art of Guerrilla Kindness with Sayraphim and Making Sense of Food Labels with Sivan.
