What’s it all about?

Have you ever wondered what the English motto “Dieu et mon droit” means? Did you know that French words have been used and are still present on the British coat of arms? After all, it is well known that the British and the French have always been enemies, have they not?

In this class we will go back in time and re-explore the love-hate relationship between the French and English. It all started with a French guy named Guillaume who decided, out of the blue, that he would conquer England. There will be fun facts, intricate history and languages; French is not as “foreign” as we thought!

What we will cover?

During the class we will look at:

  • A basic initiation into the French language,
  • Linguistic similarities between French and English,
  • Historical points and fun facts,
  • Each other for some intercultural appreciation.
