What’s it all about?

Have you ever felt stuffed but unsatisfied after a meal? Obsessed about all the latest ‘rules’ around food? Came to the end of a meal and couldn’t remember what you just ate? Made poor nutritional choices as a result of feeling stressed and overwhelmed by day-to-day life?

Whether you’re a foodie or someone who wishes to reduce their daily stress by making healthier choices, mindful eating is the perfect starting point. It’s a practice for anyone who eats.

Mindful eating involves applying the ancient art of mindfulness to eating. It’s not a diet or fad, rather it’s a shift in mindset to how we approach food. Studies are showing that mindful eating can help us to 1) reduce over-eating, 2) lose weight, 3) reduce anxious thoughts about food and your body.

What will we cover?

We will learn:

  • How to nurture and enhance the eating experience by involving all the senses; sight (colour and texture), smell, taste, and sound.
  • How to pay attention to your body and eat more in tune with your appetite so you don’t over-eat or feel guilty around your food decisions.
  • How to enjoy food by acknowledging food preferences non-judgmentally, and by taking the time to eat slowly.
  • How to manage food cravings and addictions.

To support cultivating your awareness, we will also learn mindfulness meditation practices. Overall we will gain practical tips on how to incorporate mindful eating in your day-to-day life.
