What’s it all about?

Singing is one of those things that either thrills or terrifies people. If you’re in Camp B, but would like to be able to listen to your own voice in the shower or in the car without cringing, this class is for you. We just want to shake off the shame, be a little curious and tweak a few things to get you sounding more melodic and scare your flatmates less.

There are a few tips and tricks that will change your voice for the better and we’ll explore them together (no solos!).

What will we cover?

This is a beginner’s singing class so we’ll learn the very basics of good singing technique such as breathing, posture and mouth shapes. Then we’ll experiment with a few different sounds so you can discover what you like/don’t like.

After that we’ll talk how to make it easier to hit those high notes without screaming like a dying cat, and we’ll finish with a bit of a sing-a-long to the Neil Diamond classic “Sweet Caroline” to play with our new ideas.

Who will be teaching?

Kimberley has been singing since the ripe old age of 11, which eventually led her to get a Bachelor of Music in Performance Voice and become a vocal coach. She is passionate about what she does because not only does she get to help people discover and improve their unique voice, but she also witnesses their confidence shift when they see what they’re capable of (which is pretty amazing). Kim teaches from her studio in Melbourne but also via Skype (and YouTube) and just finished a working tour of the US. You can check out her website for more info.
