What’s it all about?

The culture and conversation about food keeps growing, but with today’s fast-paced world, not enough attention is given to the actual process of eating and preparing the food, and let’s face it – food tastes better when it’s cooked and eaten with love, or ‘with awareness’.

What does it mean to eat mindfully? Mindfulness is simply the presence of mind or awareness, in whatever we are doing.

What will we cover?

We will learn how cooking can be experienced as a meditative practice and the benefits and aspects of mindful eating. We’ll even engage with an interesting experiment about how mindfulness affects our experience of eating, and we’ll have the chance to mindfully have our taste buds tickled with some delicious mindfully-prepared goodies!

We will also look at mindful eating among different cultures over the centuries, and how food is shared and prepared in ritual and ceremony.

Who will be teaching?

CarlaCarla Beasley is a qualified Ayruvedic practitioner, and a mindful eater, who takes much interest in the process of cooking, eating and sharing foods. Yoga and Ayurveda have been an integral part of Carla’s life for over 15 years, which inspired her to start The Nourishment Garden, where she offers workshops, retreats, massage and ayurvedic health consultations.
