What’s it all about?

You’ve just moved to a new city. How do you go about making friends?

Through this workshop, you’ll learn what to do — and what not to do — to ensure you have an active and full social life in your new home, filled with amazing people.

What will we cover?

It can be hard moving to a new city without knowing many people. How do you go about meeting them, let alone breaking into tightly-knit existing friend groups? Whether you’re a classic introvert or extrovert, it doesn’t matter. You’ll find ways to seek out people with your interests and start filling up your calendar.

We’ll discover tried-and-true examples of how to make friends when you’re in a new place. And we’ll get to know everyone in the class. You’ll walk out with dozens of ideas of how to discover your new besties — and you might even make a few new Laneway Learning pals!

Who will be teaching?

TheresaTheresa Winters has moved, solo, to four different countries over the past fifteen years. She managed to make great friends in each place, sometimes in the oddest of ways. She once made a friend at Flinders Street Station when she was asked if the departing train was on the Sandringham Line.

She keeps busy writing about (and going to) events for The Plus Ones, and teaches hair braiding workshops through Laneway Learning and her company, Braidiance.

Theresa firmly believes it is impossible to have too many friends.
