What’s it all about?

Have you ever been asked to design something? A birthday card, a sign for a lost pet, a ‘do the washing up’ sign for housemates? Or perhaps you just want to find out more about what design is, or how designers think and solve problems?

This is a fun and informal class for non designers to explore what design is all about, to think about design, and about practically using basic design principles.

What will we cover?

Design is all around us. Street signs, labels, magazines, computer apps, websites, the list goes on. But design is about much more than that. This course will look at what design is and how it is relevant to many aspects of our daily life.

During the course, we will look at design issues, discuss design ideas, work together on design problems and play with design ideas to try and produce practical design solutions.

Who will be teaching?

Yaron is a professional designer, with twenty years commercial experience in the UK and Australia and is currently working on his PhD. He has masters degrees in Design from Central St Martins, London; in Public Art from RMIT; and a post-graduate diploma in print and publishing from the London College of Communication. Yaron believes that the process of design should be fun as well as functional.
