What’s it all about?

Looking to learn some basic chinese to impress your friends? Maybe to even assist you around a trip to China? ‘Chinese Language: Survival Basics’ might be right up your hutong!

There are many aspects of Chinese – characters, tones, even hand gestures! – that appear a bit daunting, but this class will make a very basic introduction to the language that is also fun and interesting.

What will we cover?

We will be getting straight into some of the basics – like how to introduce yourself and early conversation. Then we will get onto learning a few handy phrases for shopping and the like. And finally we will finish with a couple of tricks about pronunciation!

You don’t need any prior knowledge of Chinese to attend the class.

Who will be teaching?

Alexander McLeod has taught Chinese to beginners for 9 years! He also trains teachers at the University of Melbourne and has previously studied and worked in China for 3 years.
