What’s it all about?

Chai has been around for over 5000 years and on average, people in India drink anywhere between 4-10 cups of chai a day. It has its own language and comes in different shapes and forms. It can be spicy, warming, cooling, soothing or just exceptionally incredible. The recipe and style of making chai varies across different Indian regions. In this workshop we’ll learn the language of chai.

What will we cover?

In this workshop we’ll be drinking chai over some common chai questions, such as:

  • Where does chai come from?
  • What is authentic chai?
  • What’s the difference between chai, chai tea, chai latte, chai tea latte?
  • How do I brew chai?
  • What is Ayurveda?
  • What do all the spices mean?
  • Why is chai so damn good?

You’ll also get your very own Chai Walli chai mix so you can show off your newly learnt chai making skills!

Who will be teaching?

uppmaUppma is the founder and owner of Chai Walli where she sells her handcrafted chai blends. By day, Uppma is a lawyer and by night she blends chai. Her love of chai and spices stems from her Indian heritage and her Grandad, who is a natural medicine doctor specialising in spices. Her chai blends are derived from his ancient Ayurvedic chai recipe. She uses Ayurveda to perfectly balance her chai blends that are created in her family’s kitchen to be shared in yours. Through Chai Walli she brings awareness and education to authentic chai and spices.
